A Gauteng LEGO enthusiast, has scooped the ultimate trip to  LEGOLAND®  as he emerged top in the Toys R Us LEGO® NINJAGO competition.

Gert Myburgh, 34, of Alberton, who jets off with his family to the LEGOLAND® Florida Resort, Theme and Water Park, in USA next year described the win as “a dream come true”.

“I actually didn’t believe it at first, it’s not often that you even know someone that has won a “dream come true” prize like this, let alone win it yourself…, This is something we were just dreaming of.” said Myburgh.

The young charted accountant simply entered the competition directly on the Toys R Us South Africa website by providing his personal details and answering a simple question related to The Lego® Ninjago Movie.

“A few months ago my wife and I were browsing the Toys R Us website to choose the Ninjago Lego set that we were going to purchase to build over the weekend. We came across the Toys R Us & LEGO competition and knew we had to enter - this was the ultimate experience for any Lego fan,” he said.

Growing up Myburgh says he had always been a fan of Lego but it was over the last year that it has turned into “a healthy addiction”.

“I still have all my Lego from when I was a child that I’ve been keeping in shoe boxes together with the building instructions. My son and I started rebuilding all my childhood Lego sets and it wasn’t long till my wife joined in on the building spree.

“Ever since, collecting and building Lego sets together as a family has become a routine weekend activity,” he said.

“We are thrilled to be giving the Myburgh’s the opportunity to realise their dream of visiting LEGOLAND®. Just hearing the delight in his voice when he was informed of his win reminded me that it’s these moments of happiness that make the Toys R Us journey so special,” said Nicole Annells, marketing manager Toys R Us & Babies R Us SA.

At 150-acres, LEGOLAND®  Florida is the largest interactive theme park in the world featuring more than 50 rides, shows, attractions, restaurants, shopping, a breath-taking botanical garden and the LEGOLAND® Water Park, which are all geared to families with children ages 2 to 12.
