The biggest and most hotly anticipated toy launch of the year drove young fans crazy with excitement as Toys R Us South Africa unboxed the season’s top toy picks this week.
Toys R Us SA head office in Redhill, Durban was transformed into a play arena where kids (and kids at heart) enjoyed a host of fun and action-filled activities.
From Nintendo Labo demonstrations to slime laboratories and interactive pets, the children were spoilt for choice, with the exclusive opportunity to be the first to unbox and sample Geoffrey’s top toys.
“The idea was to take our guests on a nostalgic journey, remembering their childhood and demonstrating how toys have evolved over the years. The kids, especially our special guests from Golden Hours School thoroughly enjoyed the Toys R Us experience which is centred on having loads of fun,” said Nicole Jansen Van Vuuren, marketing manager Toys R Us & Babies R Us SA.
The kids, joined by media colleagues and special guests including East Coast Radio personality Darren Maule, talented magician Mo Magic and Gagasi FM’s breakfast show host Mzokoloko played dress-up before sampling the wide variety of toys on offer.
“It is the children who bring our toys to life and it was so refreshing having to see so many of our adult guests feel like children for the day too,” added Van Vuuren.
With Christmas fast approaching, Toys R Us has officially launched the 2018 “biggest big book” toy catalogue, featuring over 800 products which are easily categorised for seamless navigation.
“This is our biggest selection ever which gives children an even wider variety to choose from. Even with the emergence of screen time and smartphones, kids still enjoy searching through toy catalogues to make their wish lists,” said Van Vuuren.
