Running through a Toys R Us store and putting anything and everything you want into a trolley is certainly every child’s dream come true – and this month 12 lucky sprint rangers will shortly realise this dream when they participate in this year’s Nickelodeon Toy Sprint with Toys R Us. These 12 sprint rangers from across South Africa between the ages of seven and 12 will participate in the epic sprint challenge at designated Toys R Us stores in Durban, Johannesburg and Cape Town during these school holidays. They were selected from thousands of children who entered this year’s highly anticipated Nickelodeon Toy Sprint with Toys R Us. The 12 participants are Leante Low (7), Altus Basson (7), Kayley Govender (9) and Daniele Bennie (11) from KwaZulu-Natal; Kirsten Abrahams (8), Jedt Leask (8), Riley Oliver (9) and Mahlatse Mongalo (9) from Gauteng and Calem Alexander (8), Jethro Naude (8), Josh Bothma (10) and Arwaa Davids (12) from the Western Cape. Tasania Parsadh, Channel Director for Nickelodeon Africa at Viacom International Media Networks Africa (VIMN Africa) says, “We’re very excited to reveal the 12 semi-finalist sprinters who will take part in the Nickelodeon Toy Sprint with Toys R Us and we look forward to seeing what each participant will walk away with.” The selected entrants win the chance to race around a designated Toys R Us store for 60 seconds choosing their favourite toys to the maximum value of R15 000. Only one of the 12 sprint rangers - as voted for by the public – will win the grand prize to participate in the global ultimate Nickelodeon Toy Sprint at the Toys R Us in Singapore. There, they will sprint through the 2500 square metre store in hopes to grab as many toys to the maximum value of $5 000. In addition, the winner will also receive an all-expense paid trip Singapore for a family of four, which includes a round trip airfare, five night’s hotel and spending money. Concludes Nicole Jansen van Vuuren, Head of Marketing Toys R Us & Babies R Us South Africa: “The entries to this year’s Toy Sprint have been remarkable, and we are excited to see the growth in entries over the years. We look forward to having the sprinters zoom through our flagship Toys R Us stores in the country and have the opportunity to fill up their trolleys with the toys they love the most.” The voting public are also in for a treat, thanks to Nickelodeon and Toys R Us. By casting their vote for the sprinters, one lucky voter will stand a chance to win a trolley filled with one sprinter’s toys for whom they cast their vote.
