Whether you call it random acts of kindness, paying it forward or good deeds, they are all very powerful gestures and Toys R Us South Africa is thrilled to launch its fourth annual TRUper initiative.
“Helping others brings meaning and joy to one’s life and it is never too early to start doing good deeds,” says Nicole Jansen Van Vuuren, marketing manager Toys R Us & Babies R Us South Africa.
The popular national TRUper initiative is back, bigger than before, and will see aspirant children from 30 participating schools throughout the country being acknowledged and rewarded for displaying good etiquette.
Now in its fourth year, the TRUper campaign has proven to be so valuable in South African schools that Toys R Us SA has broadened its footprint, reaching far more scholars over an extended period of time.
With the aim of encouraging pre-school children to think with their hearts and build compassion from a young age, TRUper 2018 kicks off this month (February) and runs until November 2018.
“Children may not understand how a small contribution can make a difference in their communities now, but this initiative encourages teachers to nurture a spirit of giving thanks and plant a seed of kindness in every child,” says Van Vuuren.
She said Toys R Us South Africa felt overwhelmed at the popularity of the TRUper initiative adding that more youngsters would now be able to benefit.
TRUper SA invites children and teachers’ to nominate a scholar each month, who displays kindness, exhibits exceptional qualities and has made a positive contribution to his or her communities or environment.
These, monthly representatives, will serve as ambassadors to their peers demonstrating their selfless acts of kindness and compassion and function as positive role models in their communities.
“TRUper helps nurture values and encourages our children to be more aware of the things happening around them. The children also realise that they can do their part in small ways and these gestures would mean a lot to those whom they have helped. At a young age, they learnt to put their thoughts in action and contribute to meaningful causes. We are delighted that TRUper is having such a positive impact in South African schools,” added Van Vuuren.
